I Believe I Can Fly!

I think most of us have registered for getting ourselves a brand new iPhone but are still waiting to know the price of this sleek and sexy mobile phone. Although Steve Jobs said it would be priced at $199 or 8GB and $299 for 16GB model, it seems that its going to cost dearer in Australia.

iPhone in USA is sold at a subsidised rate. Major cost of the subsidy is borne by the service provider – AT&T. In UK it is sold for 100 GBP and a 35 months contract. Australia is eagerly waiting for THE launch date – July 11 2008. Unofficial figures says that more than 50,000 people have already registered for iPhone. I am sure no one is still aware of the cost.

In Australia, Vodafone and Optus have the privilege of selling iPhone. There is no information about pricing on any of the service provider’s website. However, Vodafone did mention that it would be available to prepay and postpay customers.

So what do you think iPhone would cost in Australia?

yes that’s right.. i have just created my account with g.ho.st operating system and have worked little bit. Its working really great and at the same time its really fast. I love to work in cloud so that I don’t get stuck up even if I am not having my laptop with me all the time.

The graphics of g.ho.st are really good. It gives you very much of windows feel but I am wondering why din’t they go for look and feel of Mac. Maybe because of the popularity of Microsoft OS, but I don’t think it would be long.

Anyways, I am having good time with g.ho.st so far.

What a day it has been for me. I just finished this presentation at MEGA and I returned home. As usual, first thing I did was I checked my email and I saw this mail that said.. Congratulations, You have been selected as the Sun Campus Ambassador for UniSA (University of South Australia).

Wow, that is awesome, isn’t it? That also means that now I will get my very own @SUN.com email address. It also means that I have a new role to play and a new responsibility as well. But I am gonna love it and why not, I will be promoting OpenSource products and technologies.

It all started like this. One of my colleague told me that there might be an opening and was prompt enough to put me in touch with the concerned person, here in Adelaide. I sent my resume and was told that I will be interviewed on phone. We fixed up date and time for the interview.

I had not prepared anything for the interview as I was busy preparing for the MEGA presentation. I received this call from Sun Microsystems, India. The interview went on well. And after that, on the next day (which is today), I received this email informing me that I have been selected. I am so excited. It means a lot to me and trust me because of my background and association with other groups and organisations, I would be able to give full justice to my role and responsibility.

MEGA, It all started there. About 20 weeks back there was this networking session where we met. Only common thing between all of us was passion to do something in the mobile industry. Since the word go, we wanted to do something that has huge market and something that everybody would want to use.

We are known as BLUEi and our product is called encounter!

Today, 20 weeks later it huge day. Its the final pitch day and we started our presentation.

We presented our concept pretty well but the challenge was to present the entire proposal within 5 minutes. We managed it well and finished it just 20 seconds over time. Because of the time restriction, we could not discuss in detail the distribution plan and model. We didn’t discuss anything about team as well. But it was really good to get feedback from the industry leaders.

The presentation was binding and was appreciated by all. The most important aspect of this project is Team. We as a team has all experience to make this project a huge success. We have achieved it in past and repeating success is our hobby.

The presentation included the profitability statement highlighting the cost, revenue and profit before tax.

There was a panel of industry experts who would give their valuable feedback to each group after the presentation.

Let me tell you, the feedback was highly positive. We are further motivated, and we are now taking it beyond MEGA. There was a lot of interaction during the lunch session. It was good to hear what audience has to say. We were even interviewed during the lunch session!

We will soon be registering our company. We have made initial contacts and are hoping for early results. We may be making some announcement really soon. So keep checking.

The recently concluded 2008 International Young ICT Professionals Conference held at the Convention Centre at Adelaide was a fantastic one with huge success. The conference attracted more than 200 delegates from various parts of the Australia and the world and has clearly set a new benchmark for such events.

It was organised by Australian Computer Society – Young IT under the able leadership of Yohan Ramasundara. The conference was chaired by Debbie Timmins. The organising committee put up a huge show and efforts to make it a great success.

Audience appreciated the quality of speakers and their delivery mechanism. Stephen Kowal, Jonar Nader, Alan Noble, Caroline New, Kate Southam were some of the most sought after speakers.

The conference helped Young ICT Professionals gain the insight of ICT industry and the prospects. It helped them cultivate the quality of a leader. The conference contents aptly delivered the concept of “Lean, develop, lead”.
